To Enter Brazil

In general: Please note that the rules for issuing visas are different from country to country, and they are constantly changing. For that reason, please check individually with the nearest diplomatic representative (Brazilian Consulate). These will be located in your capital city or that of a neighboring country. You should obtain a visa and conditions of entry.

Visas: Citizens of the following countries will require visas to enter Brazil: Australia, Bosnia & Herzegovnia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Japan, Croatia, Canada, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Mexico, New Zealand, Romania, Russia and other former-Soviet Block countries, Slovenia, United States. Residents of Colombia and Venezuela should be vaccinated against yellow fever. Potential visitors to the Iguaçu Falls may also need a visa for Argentina, depending on their nationality. Otherwise, it may not be possible to visit the other side of the falls. Conference participants must themselves take responsibility for obtaining visas.

Confirmations and Invitation Letter: Normally, confirmation of enrollment in the Congress should be enough to prove enrollment, for the purpose of obtaining the visa. The Consulates may require an official Invitation Letter, which we will send, provided this is requested, to conference participants coming from countries where visas are required. For those who are not enrolled, invitation letters cannot be sent, nor can other confirmation. Please bear in mind that we are not able to influence the consulate’s decision.

Dates: Please note that the invitation letter shall refer only to the official period in which the congress will take place (although the duration of pre and post-congress events may be added). If you require a longer stay, you will require separate documentation.

Financial Guarantee: Irrespective of obtention of a visa, it is necessary to prove, upon entering the country, that you have sufficient financial resources for the duration of your stay. For those participants who requested and paid-for their stay through the official travel agency for the Congress, covering tours, hotels etc. (or who are coming on a special invitation from the Congress) if necessary, a letter may be sent confirming pre-payment of these services. This may partially offset the requirement of sufficient funds upon entry. Ikone and LOC are unable to provide financial guarantees for participants from countries not required to pay. The participant himself must prove to the visa-issuing body that he/she possesses sufficient funds for the duration of the Congress in Brazil.

Fortaleza

The state of Ceará is in the Northeast of Brazil. Its capital, Fortaleza, is located at 4 degrees below the equator line. With a coastline of 573km, Ceará is the backdrop of several deserted beaches, dotted by coconut trees, beaches with cliffs of multicolored sand and natural freshwater springs, such as the famous Canoa Quebrada, or wide, long beaches that spread out over white sand dunes that form the landscape, enclosing fresh and sea water lagoons, like the Jericoacoara beach. Ceará boasts 300 sunny days per year and a temperature never below 24°C. Fortaleza has plenty of good hotels with excellent service and spacious facilities. Most of the hotels are located on the sea front. Nightlife is another high point in a visit to Fortaleza.

We shall also include some information about our city. The capital city in the State of Ceará, Fortaleza, attracts millions of tourists from Brazil and everywhere in the world, all year round. Beautiful beaches, warm climate and friendly people along with typical handicrafts and other cultural expressions make the city an excellent venue for congresses, holidays and large international meetings. We have the advantage of having the necessary infrastructure for large-scale events and yet we do not have the disadvantages of big cities, such as heavy traffic, lack of security, pollution and so on.
